Mnister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya announced that 29 suspects who attacked and physically intervened in the police in Saraçhane on May 1 were caught at the addresses they fled to. On the other hand, the social media phenomenon 'Basel', who was among the group that attacked the police, and the woman who hit the police with a demijohn were also taken into custody.


Minister Yerlikaya shared the following statements on the subject:


What was necessary was done... 29 suspects, who gathered in Saraçhane Square to go to Taksim Square in Istanbul on May 1 Labor and Solidarity Day and attacked our police officers with stones and sticks and physically intervened, were caught today at the addresses they fled to after the incident.


Our operations continue to capture other individuals identified as being involved in the attack using camera recordings and facial recognition system.


I believe our dear country should know that;

By trying to provoke May 1 Labor and Solidarity Day, we will catch those who attack our heroic police officers who work day and night for the peace and security of our people, one by one, and bring them to justice.
